Japan Navy Forces Visit the Philippines

JMSDF Training Squadron makes Davao port Call

From July 9 to 11, the Japan Training Squadron of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) made a port visit to Davao City, Philippines.

The visit of JS Kashima and JS Setoyuki of the JMSDF Training Squadron was part of the 65th Overseas Training Cruise whose purpose is to develop the newly commissioned officers’ seamanship through various trainings at sea, foster their international perspectives, and promote friendly relations with port call countries.

During their visit, the officials and newly commissioned officers of the Japan Training Squadron had an online meeting with their counterparts in the Philippine Navy as well as members of Davao Japanese and Nikkei jin community.

They conducted a goodwill exercise after they left Davao, deepening the friendship between the two maritime nations.
